My Dad loves telling a story about his Uncle Cy. His Uncle Cy worked on a turkey farm and one day when someone standing in the back of a truck was passing him down a turkey, the turkey went to the bathroom. Right when the turkey went to the bathroom Uncle Cy was yelling and guess where the turkey doo doo landed? Yep, right in his mouth! By this point of the story my Dad's face is all disfigured with a look of disgust! And then the best part, Uncle Cy spit out that turkey poop and with a big smile on his face said "Thank goodness I had my mouth open or it would have gotten all over my face!"
I have a testimony of happiness! No matter our circumstances, I know that we can choose to be happy because of the agency that our Heavenly Father has blessed us with. Elder Jack H. Goaslind said, “Striving for happiness is a long, hard journey with many challenges. How many people in this world pursue happiness but find that it eludes them? They contrive pleasures, invent amusements, and invest heavily in recreation. They go abroad in search of this rare gift but fail to see that evidence of it is all around them; the source is within them.”
I know that happiness is a choice and that our Heavenly Father wants us, His children to be happy. The Prophet Joseph Smith said, “Happiness is the object and design of our existence; and will be the end thereof, if we pursue the path that leads to it.”
